Project Objectives

For this project, we were told the rules of a preexisting card game without being shown the original name, theme, or branding. We were then tasked with branding it ourselves with our own creative name and theme. Therefore, I came up with Reino de los Muertos: the vintage-inspired Dia de los Muertos grame. The game was actually printed on real playing card paper, and is completely playable!

The challenge of the project was to create a game that the user could easy understand the rules and the cards. It was a different style of creating a user experience. I always had to think after designing a card if it would make sense for the user to understand at first glance. Another important challenge that I had was creating the box for the game. I wanted to create a box that users would pick if it was on a store. I used principles of design, typography, layout, techniques (mechanics), user-interaction/experience and craftsmanship.

Key take away

I enjoy creating illustrations, and thinking in a more traditional way of designing a user experience. I always trying to learn about different cultures. I was also able to play more with the layout and the color palette.
